اصطلاحات، واژگان و نکات کاربردی از کتاب نارنیا

سلام دوستان هر از گاهی چند اصطلاح یا واژه که در خلال خوندن این کتاب بهش بر میخورم و بنظرم جالب میاد اینجا مینویسم تا شما هم بهره ببرید.

1​Air raid : an attack by enemy aircraft, usually dropping bombs.

There were several air raid warnings in late July but little damage.

2​fall/land on your feet : to get into a good situation because you are lucky, especially after being in a difficult situation

Don’t worry about Nina, she always **falls on her feet **

3​come off it!(informal) :*used to tell someone that you do not believe what they are saying is true, or that you strongly disagree with them:

Ask Simon to cook the meal? Come off it, he can hardly boil an egg!

خیلی عالیه، من کلمه شماره ی ۲ تو کتاب داستان زیاد بهش برمی خوردم ولی یاد نگرفتم یا نفهمیدمشون
اینجا دیگه تو ذهنم ثبت شد.

چرا شماره سه گفته informal هست؟

درود informal/غیررسمی یعنی اینکه این اصطلاح در نوشتار و گفتار رسمی کاربرد ندارد و ویژه‌ی گفتگوهای خودمانی و دوستانه است.

خوشحالم مفید بوده برات. بله ادامه میدم ایشالاه. ولی بیشتر از 3 تا اصطلاح یا واژه رو مطرح نمیکنم که ذهن رو خسته نکنه.

1_ یه نکته گرامی تو بخشی که امشب خوندم بود.
برای بیان ای کاش که مربوط به زمان گذشته است از ساختار
If only + past verb
استفاده میشه.

If only we knew where the poor chap was imprisoned!” said Peter

پیتر گفت ای کاش میدونستیم اون مرد یا جوان بیچاره کجا زندانی شده.
2_نکته دوم صفت nasty رو میشه برای ideaهم به کار برد. یعنی بگیم ایده زننده.

من این مدل ساختار رو زیاد دیدم نسبتا و فکر میکنم اینطوری باشه

I wish + (فاعل ) + could / had / (was/were) / will become + (موضوع مورد آرزو )

I wish I could fly in the sky
I wish I had an angle
I wish you were here , right beside me
I wish she wil become somebody she desires

در مورد آخری مطمئن نیستم . نت که درست شد میشه سرچ کرد
در کل I wish رو میشه گوگل کرد و جملات نمونه پیدا کرد و ساختار ها رو متوجه شد

کتاب های سطح بندی، این دو مورد if only و I wish خیلی زیاد بود ولی تفاوتش رو هنوزم درک نکرده بودم.

این اصلاح در دو معنی داره

a) near
There’s a bus stop just around the corner.

b) likely to happen soon
Economic recovery is just around the corner

Pitter-patter : with quick light beats or steps

این adverbهم برام جالب بود در توصیف صدای چک چک آب، ضربان یا تپش قلب و همچنین توصیف صدای قدم به کار میره. به مثال ها دقت کنید.

Anna’s heart went pitter-patter as she opened the letter.

The rain pitter-pattered on the roof.
I heard the pitter-patter of tiny feet (= the noise of children running)

slip away ( phrasal verb)
to leave a place secretly or without anyone noticing
He slipped away into the crowd.

give somebody the cold shoulder
: (informal) to deliberately ignore someone or be unfriendly to them, especially because they have upset or offended you.
After I got the promotion, a few of my co-workers started giving me the cold shoulder
