کلمه‌ی another به‌معنای «یکی دیگر» هست. قبل از اسم قابل شمارش مفرد ازش استفاده می‌کنیم:
I would like another cup of coffee.
She is buying another book.
و other هم برای اسم‌های قابل شمارش میاد. به‌معنای «دیگر» و «سایر» هست:
This book is as thick as the other book.
This movie is my favourite. I watch other movies too.
و others هم به‌معنای «دیگران» یا «بقیه» هست. برای اشاره به گروهی از افراد یا چیزها استفاده می‌شه که قبلاً بهشون اشاره شده:
Some students are studying, and others are playing.
Two of the students were absent. Others were present.
I put some books in the bookshelf. The others are still on the floor.
عبارت one another یعنی «همدیگر» یا «یکدیگر». برای اشاره به روابط متقابل بین سه نفر یا بیشتر استفاده می‌شه:
The students helped one another.
The cats were chasing one another.
They were smiling at one another.
اما one other یعنی «یکی دیگر». برای اشاره به یه شخص یا یه چیز اضافه توی یه گروه استفاده می‌شه:
I have one other book to read. One other student is still in the classroom.
