Meaning of: through vs. throughout?

Through" indicates the means. “Throughout” indicates “every part/place”.
“I passed the test through hard work” means “It was because of hard work that I passed the test”.
“I went though the field on my way home” means “I used the field as path home”.
“There are flowers throughout the field” means “Every part of the field has a flower”.
