باشگاه مشت زنی در مورد کارمندی بدبین است که در یک کارخانه اتومبیل سازی کار می کند و مدتی است از بی خوابی رنج می برد.
او یک روز با فردی با لباس های عجیب و غریب آشنا می‌شود که شغلش بازاریابی صابون است و عقاید نو و جالبی دارد.
با او به محل زندگی اش در محله ای می رود که زباله های سمی شهر را آنجا انبار می‌کنند، شیفته او می‌شود و با او در مورد آزادی و راه های کسب قدرت صحبت می‌کند. این دو برای آن که از عقده های درونی خالی شوند و به اصطلاح تولدی دوباره داشته باشند، آگاهانه شروع به کتک‌کاری می‌کنند.
بعد از آن فکر راه اندازی یک باشگاه به ذهن آن ها خطور می کند. اما نه هر باشگاهی…
